As a company, The Sonja Picard Collection (SPC) has been evolving since 2000, based on the artistic vision of Sonja Picard. SPC is created in alignment with ancient yogic concepts and the tantric tradition of adornment.
SPC includes contemporary necklaces, earrings, rings and bracelets in four lines : the Couture Line, the Studio Line, the Bridal Line and the Karma Yoga Line. SPC has been featured in numerous fashion and yoga magazines, and has been worn by celebrities, including ABC correspondent Carla Wohl, who wore pieces from Sonja’s Couture Line at the 2008 and 2009 Oscars. With the opening of her new Art Gallery and Jewelry Boutique on the trendy Main Street strip in Vancouver, British Columbia, Sonja also offers her latest glass sculptures and paintings, which can be found adorning the gallery walls.
In accordance with the yogic philosophy that inspired the company, SPC practices ahimsa, or “non-injury."
Sonja explains, “Thoughtful consumption and how we leave the Earth and its resources for future souls is a mindful yogic principle of karmic consciousness, and this translates as ahimsa.”
Ahimsa is the ancient yogic view that all life is sacred. Therefore, no animal products are used in SPC. In addition, Sonja offers conflict-free Canadian diamonds, known to be acquired through high-standard mining practices sensitive to the environment. Careful attention is also applied to a concerted effort to reduce SPC’s carbon imprint.
Sonja’s intention is to work with local suppliers and artisans, thus buoying the local economy and creating lasting relationships within the community. This mandate also supports Sonja's vision to maintain the highest quality and excellence in each and every piece that bears her name.
The concept of Seva, or service, is also highly valued at SPC. Jewelry sales from the Karma Yoga Line are donated in full to five non-profit organizations annually.
The Sonja Picard Collection can be found in stores and galleries throughout North America and Europe. The SPC Art Gallery and Jewelry Boutique is located at 4360 Main Streetin Vancouver, British Columbia. SPC is also now offered online, and all items are available to be shipped world-wide.
