Jewelry Cleaning Tips
How to clean your jewelry and keep it clean
We don’t use any coating to prevent tarnishing because we believe there are already enough toxins in the world. We are old school. 😊
Do’s and don’ts
* Do keep your shiny jewelry in the small ziplick bag it comes in to prevent it from tarnishing.
* Don’t hang your silver necklaces on pretty hooks to display. Usually, those hooks are another metal that activates tarnishing faster.
A few ways to clean silver
We suggest you lovingly polish your silver with a polish cloth (we sell them or you can order them online), then wash your pieces in warm soapy water. Dry completely and keep in a small ziplock bag.
You can also make a paste out of baking soda mixed with a bit of water, and scrub your pieces using an old cloth or toothbrush. Then rinse and dry.
Or, you can use a ‘whitening’ white toothpaste (not gel) and scrub with an old toothbrush. Rinse and dry.
How to clean your gold jewels
In a bowl, add really hot tap water and some good dishsoap to your jewelry and let it sit for 10 minutes.
Then, take a tooth brush and scrub. If you have a rouge polish cloth (also a great online purchase), buff it up. I like to do the soak a couple of times. As we lovingly wear our pieces (especially rings), life gets in the cracks and behind settings.
This is also a great time to check the settings and see if any stones are wiggly. They may need to be sent in or taken to a nearby jeweller to secure the stone.
